WESTERWALD PLAY ISLANDS
A Playful City worked with children from Grade 5b of the Siegerland Grund Schule and STADTGESCHICHTEN to explore urban design and ideas of play in the city.
Thanks to the gang at #STADTGESCHICHTEN for the invite and to all the young people & staff at #SiegerlandGrundSchule for helping us bring their ideas to life :)

DAY 1
Understanding what PLAY means to the children and where it takes place.
Identifying places that could do with more PLAYFUL INTERACTION.
CREATING PERSONAS that help children to empathise with how to make a space more inclusive and engaging.
HACKING HALLWAYS to explore how play can make a space brighter, more fun whilst encouraging creativity, participation and critical reflection around shared spaces.




DAY 2
EXPLORING the LOCALE by mapping, site assessment and surveying.
Workshopping and Prototyping ideas around what might make spaces safer, more inclusive and PLAYFUL!







DAY 3, 4 & 5
Children are introduced to all their materials and to their method plans.
Ideas are brought to life, traffic slows and the play takes over the Westerwaldplatz!
